VBBT Day 1!

by | Aug 20, 2015

Offshore:

Today is the first day of the Virginia Beach Billfish Tournament. The Rebel and Instigator both headed offshore today. The Instigator is the only boat in our fleet today that is fishing the tournament. The rest of our boats who are in the tournament are taking their lay day. Check back later around 5PM to see how the boats did. Today in all 20 boats are fishing the tournament and 55 are taking their lay day.

Inshore:

The High Hopes is out on a half day inshore trip this morning.  They caught some Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish, as well as caught and released a few sharks! We also had a private boat hit the docks with some really nice Cobia!

Rudee Inlet:

The main bite here in the inlet is currently Spot and Croaker. We have heard a few reports of Puppy Drum being caught as well, but they are few and far between. The hot bait to use is squid, live minnows, bloodworms, and Gulp with a light jighead.

It was a rainy afternoon here at Rudee Inlet but we ended the day with a beautiful rainbow over the inlet.
