Rudee Inlet:

Nothing like sunshine and good calm weather to fill the inlet with boaters and kayaks catching fish left and right! We’ve been selling LOTS of live minnows and bloodworms which means the Flounder and Spot are starting to bite good. The Bluefish bite has slowed down a bit as they have moved out of the inlet with the warm water into the ocean. We have reports of Croaker and Puppy Drum as well.

Inshore:

Cobia is the talk of the docks lately and rightfully so. With as many Cobia as we’ve seen come across the scales the past few days it’s no wonder everyone is chomping at the bit to get on the bite! Our boats have marked them fairly close to the inlet so the run for them isn’t too far. The surface water temperature is finally warming up so the fish have made their way from Carolina. We’ve also had many reports of REALLY nice sized Red Drum and Black Drum being caught and released near the Chesapeake Bay. Even if you don’t plan on keeping any meat fish those are a lot of fun to fight and catch.

Offshore:

Tuna tuna tuna! The Backlash returned from an overnight offshore trip and filled our rack and scales with Yellowfin and Big Eye! The two Big Eye Tuna weighed in over citation size at 174 and 203 lbs! Not to mention all the Yellowfin and couple of Mahi hanging on the rack.. that’s a lot of meat! These are some of the best eating fish out there so needless to say these guys, and gals, will have their freezers full for a while! Even though our boats have been doing overnight trips for these fish, they are easily attainable on just a regular trip offshore for 12 hours. The Rebel returned from a regular offshore trolling trip and laid some nice Tuna and Mahi on the dock! Don’t let the times scare you away from this great opportunity for these prized fish, they’re a hot fishery to get a hold of! (Just be prepared for some tired arms!)
