There is still a Tautog Bite

by | Jan 11, 2017

Inshore:

We are getting many calls asking about the Rockfish. We have not heard any reports of any biting along the Virginia coastline. Infact we have not heard of anyone catching any keepers since the closure of the Bay season. ThereĀ is still however some fishing to be done nearshore and in the Chesapeake Bay for Togs. Anglers have been catching some on crabs on wrecks inside the Bay and along the structures of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Other than that inshore fishing remains on the slow side of things.

Offshore:

The only boats we have had venture out to the deep water have been doing some deep drop fishing. They have been catching some nice Blueline Tilefish and a few Golden Tilefish as well. We have not heard of much action from any boats who have been trolling in and around the Norfolk Canyon.
