Tuna On The Docks

by | Jul 24, 2016

Rudee Inlet:

The Flounder bite inside Rudee Inlet is starting to heat up, though a majority of the catches have been throwbacks there have been some beautiful keepers in the mix. The best bait to use to try to hook up with the Flounder seem to be live minnows, though they will also bite on gulps on a light jig head. There are still some Bluefish lingering inside Rudee Inlet that have been hitting on cut finger mullet as well as top water artificial baits. Croaker and Spot have continued to bite on live bloodworms and squid on a bottom rig.

Inshore:

This morning we have several boats fishing inshore. The WaveRunner returned at 11 with a haul of some nice sized Spanish Mackerel, including 2 being citations at 4 and 1/2 pounds, they also released a 55″ Tarpon. The Capt Cheryl returned with a beautiful catch of Spanish Mackerel. The GitRDone returned with some nice Spanish Mackerel as well.

Offshore:

The Backlash was the first of the offshore fleet to return to the docks, they pulled in with a bunch of False Albacore Tunas, a few nice Yellowfin Tuna, and some beautiful gaffer Mahi. The next boat in was the Rebel and they returned with some nice Blueline Tilefish, as well as flying 2 White Marlin release flags as well as a Blue Marlin release flag. The Veteran returned from offshore with a few Mahi.
