The weather and wind in Virginia
Beach today is still making fishing hard! Today the inshore and offshore
reports are still rough and unfavorable in our area. Due to the
Northeaster, the private charter boats, head boats and the cruising boats will
remain at the docks again today. Even with the wind blowing, fishing in
the inlet is still good. Like yesterday, individuals are opting to take
the time to fish for some Spot and Flounder off the rocks of the inlet today.
We are continuing to receive reports of decent size fish in the inlet, making it
an enjoyable alternative on the windy day.
Even though the weather today is
not the best for fishing out on the water, looking ahead, the offshore and
inshore reports for the end of the week and this weekend look as if the weather
will be turning around and starting to get really good. Hopefully the
weather for this weekend will be optimal making it an enjoyable holiday weekend.
Aside from the current weather,
fishing this time of year is awesome!! September through November we begin to
see a really strong offshore fishing season. In talking to one of the
Charter Boat captains this morning he remarked that many people are not aware of
how strong fishing is this time of year. We are beginning to see the large
sized Marlins, the Tuna are starting to return, and the Mahi are beginning to
bite well again. We also begin to see more swordfish and some spearfish.
The other plus about fishing this time of year is that not only is it cooler,
the beach and resort area isn't as crowded (typically
hotels are cheaper too!!!)
We are still booking charters for
the offshore and inshore fishing, and are already beginning to book trips for
the winter striper fishing season. For more information on any of the
trips offered, contact the marina at
