Other Marina Activities:

6th It's been a little slow around the marina lately since the waters have been so rough. Luckily there are still options for fishing around here without getting on a boat. Fishing in Rudee Inlet serves some type of action year round. For the past month or so the Spot have been biting like CRAZY! Even though these fish are smaller (just under 1lb) people have been catching TONS. The best bait, always, is live bait. In this case Bloodworms are THE bait to use when fishing for Spot. Because they are biting so good, the artificial Bloodworms work just as well. A lot of the guys that come in here to buy bait usually buy a bag of live and a bag of artificial, double bottom rigs, 2oz-4oz weights, and smaller snelled hooks preferably with a long neck. The double bottom rigs are a favorite among many because you can use twice the bait to lure the fish. The best part is there are no regulations as far as Spot go. You can catch and keep as many as you want. The citation size for a Spot is 13" released or 1lb if kept. We will happily weigh your fish for you if you think it is of citation size and also get your picture up on the website with your catch whether you have 1 fish or 20. The ideal fishing spot right now is right off the rocks at 1st street near the jetty at Rudee Inlet. While it will probably be a little crowded that hasn't seemed to bother anyone fishing there because fishing is SO good. Always remember to have your Virginia Saltwater Fishing License when fishing any of the waters in Virginia which can be purchased at Wal-Mart, K-Mart or online. The waves look like they'll be calming down quite a bit this weekend. We're working on a few make-up charters both inshore and offshore so if you're looking at getting on a boat this weekend definitely give us a call for all the information! 757-491-8000 800-725-0509 |
