9th Fishing in the inlet has been great as the winter fish have really shown up. The Speckled Trout, Taylor Blues, and Puppy Drum are quite active, giving anglers some great action. Moving tides are the way to go when targeting these fish, in coming or outgoing does not seem to matter, just so long as it is moving. Artificial lures still seem to be the favorite and color still does not seem to matter. We have had reports of anglers using grubs with jig heads, Mirrolures, Sting Silvers, Gulp, Gotcha Plugs, etc. Most of the fish are on the smaller side around 10-12 inches, but there are some scattered large ones in there. The small ones will continue to feed through these cooler months and later in the season, it is not uncommon for us to weigh in citations on a daily basis from anglers fishing in Rudee Inlet. The deep dropping is still resulting in some great catches. The Blue Line Tile Fish seem to be offering citations for anglers on each trip. They are also still getting some nice sized Grouper, Black Sea Bass, and Black Bellied Rose Fish. This type of fishing can be a lot of work with so much reeling involved, but it offers great reward as these fish are not only good sized, but tasty as well. These trips often result in anglers taking home full coolers to fill their freezers. There are still reports from anglers of some early stripers in the bay. Most seem to be on the smaller side, but these early reports are getting the captains and anglers excited for the season to come. There don’t seem to be any large schools yet, but the water temperature is starting to drop and the large schools will move in soon after. 757-491-8000 800-725-0509 |
