Our only charter boat that went out today
went up to the Bay for Striper. They did AWESOME! The captain called us shortly
after leaving telling us he had limited out in 35 MINUTES!
Inlet fishing has been a good alternative these past couple
days because of the rough weather out on the water. Speckled Trout and Puppy
Drum are still biting really good with a few scattered Flounder.
The choice bait lately has been artificial. Any kind of Gulp
or grub tails will work. Usually anything with a bright color to it or
shimmer/sparkle is ideal. Most of the people that come in to weigh their
citations use a range of jigs, storm lures, floating minnows, squid,
grubs, curltails, and Gulp. We carry all of these in a range of colors and
sizes. Over half of our inventory of tackle is brand new to us that we got just
a few weeks ago and we've already had GREAT feedback on how well everything has been
working here in Rudee Inlet. If you haven't had a chance you should definitely
stop by to look through it, it may be worth it.
If you are determined to use actual bait, squid, mullet,
shrimp, or clams will always be the most universal bait to use in the inlet. A
tip from a few of our captains say the best time to catch Speckled Trout is on a
moving tide.
