**UPDATE**
We just had word of a private boat that will be in around 5PM with A TON of
TUNA!! This is GREAT news considering we've been waiting so patiently for the
Tuna to show up nice and strong. We heard the boat was fishing at the 850-line
down to the 700-line when he sat right on top of a school of fish. He was able
to bring back a total of 20 Tuna that included Yellowfin, Blackfin, and a couple
Bluefin, however we were not able to get any pictures. We'll try to get more
information from captains as we get it!
Well we have still not been
able to get out much since the Nor-Easter. Most of the fishing recently
has been taking place in the inlet. The storm has stirred up some nice
speckled trout in Rudee Inlet. We have seen many people bring back coolers
full of 4-6lb fish. Several locals have weighed them in but did not want
the citation. We have had several fish over 5 lbs and even a few over 6!
Artificial bait still seems to be the favorite method, grubs and jigs are the
most popular but many people have started to use the gulp as well.
We do have some good
charter reports from other local fishermen and friends.
Inshore reports of 40"+
stripers being caught off of Solomon's Island have people speculating the best
Striped Bass season that we have ever had. The captains up there are
saying that they are already catching a ton of fish and many of them are over
40" already. They are jealous that the fish are moving here for the winter
because they know that they will be even bigger when they get here!
Offshore we've had reports
of Blue Fin Tuna being spotted at some of the offshore towers! Hopefully
someone will be able to bring some back to the docks soon!
The deep dropping should
also be wonderful right now. We have head boats heading out tomorrow to
try their luck offshore!
Check back in later this
weekend for an update, and remember if the boats get back late on Saturday, that
we may not be able to get a report out until Sunday!
