I just spoke with some of the
Captains who have been fishing in the inlet this morning. (Who could pass up
beautiful weather like this to get out fishing?)
Besides the puppy drum, speckled
trout, and flounder that have been hitting pretty well in the inlet, the crabs
are also showing up, although it seems to be more of a hit and miss type of
thing with the crabs.
Other than in the inlet there is
FANTASTIC STRIPED BASS AND BLACK DRUM fishing going on right now!
After speaking to some of the
Captains in detail I learned how AMAZING the fishing for these fish are right
now! The striped bass, which opened May 1 in the Chesapeake Bay for Trophy
season. The sizes are reported to be HUGE and wagering on the 30lbs. size! Which
is amazing for the spring season! This looks like it is gearing up for a
fantastic year ahead!!
This type of fishing can be done
on a nearshore 1/2 day which is four hours from either 8a.m.-12p.m. or
1p.m.-5p.m. for up to six people for $750 (cash discounted price).

The other fishing right now that
is DEFINITELY standing out is the Black drum fishing. Black drum are notorious
for getting huge and in fact, the state record for a black drum is 111 lbs!! One
of the Captains reported that they were out fishing with a friend this past
weekend and they caught an 82 lb black drum!!! AWESOME! They all seem to say
that there will probably be several caught and on an average size range of 40-50
lbs!!
This type of fishing can be done
on a full day inshore trip, which is 8 hours long, and goes from 8a.m.-4p.m. for
$1200 (cash discounted price), and can take up to six people. The benefit of
this trip is it offers enough time that you can fish for
BLACK DRUM & STRIPED BASS!!!!
