The past 2 days, the Backlash and the Rebel have been offshore fishing the Huk Big Fish Classic. This tournament is based out of Ocean City, Maryland and is a little different than most as it is a 32 hour tournament. Both boats left Rudee Inlet early Saturday morning and lines were in at 7:00am. They both spent the night out there and fished until 3:00pm on Sunday.
The Rebel ended up catching a nice Spearfish but it was not large enough to take to Ocean City to weigh.
The Backlash caught a Swordfish big enough to take to the scales and ran up to Ocean City to weigh it! The fish ended up being 180lbs., just about 17lbs. short of the winner (who was also a Virginia Beach boat!). After nearly 48 hours out there, they made their way home, unfortunately, without a win but with a really great experience and adventure.
Today, July 30 the Backlash and Rebel are back out there fishing. Check back tomorrow to see how today went!
