We had quite the exciting day down here at the Virginia Beach Fishing Center!!

We started our day off with the High Hopes and Backlash setting out on half-day inshore trips and later returning with awesome catches of Spanish Mackerel.

The afternoon brought the WaveRunner and Rebel in from offshore. The Rebel hit the docks with 4 really nice Yellowfin Tuna. The WaveRunner, who was fishing the tournament, hit the docks and the scales (!!) with a really nice Yellowfin and some nice Dolphin.

Today was also the first day of the Virginia Beach Tuna Tournament so our docks were buzzing with the excitement of the first Virginia Beach tournament of the year! The WaveRunner was the first of our charter fleet to fish it; however, alongside him we also had quite a few of our private boats out there today who also hit the scales with some great catches.

There were a lot of really nice Tuna, Dolphin, and even a Wahoo brought in today at our docks alone and we heard reports of some other great catches being weighed at the other weigh stations but it seems to still be anyone’s game at this point.

Tomorrow, we will have the Backlash, Capt. Cheryl, High Hopes and Rebel offshore as well as the Top Notch fishing 2 inshore half-day trips. The Rebel will be our only charter fishing the tournament; however, we have quite a few private boats from our fleet heading out to fish the tournament as well.

We are proud to be an official weigh station of the Virginia Beach Tuna Tournament and invite any and all down to our docks tomorrow and Saturday to join in on all of the fun and excitement! If you can’t make it down- be sure to check back and see how the fleet did. After our first test drive of a “live report” today, you may even find us going “live” on Facebook tomorrow so if you don’t already follow- you might want to!
